Rui Arichika is a Japanese cinematographer based in Los Angeles and Tokyo. 

Growing up surrounded by art and music with the influence of her father, a performing artist, and her grandfather, a songwriter, she found that she had always been interested in telling stories. Music was a gateway into the search for her own artistic medium. After earning a BA in fine arts at Elmira College and working as a news producer in New York, she discovered her passion for filmmaking, specifically cinematography and all the ways in which it can help tell a story without the need for words. 

She moved to LA and earned her MFA in Cinematography from the AFI Conservatory. Her thesis film, Shedding Angels, was shortlisted for the 2022 Yugo BAFTA Student Awards and a winner of the 49th Student Academy Awards.
